Background and Experience

Andrew joined Taylor Lock Company in 1964 and, in addition to managing teams of installers and locksmiths, was personally responsible for significant industry milestones including:

1968 – The production of a six lever key mechanism for parking meters for which he designed and made the special tooling and key cutting machine.

1972 –  He produced the first patent for an automatic locking bolt for Ingersoll Locks Ltd. Further designs followed for a deposit safe for large volume cash bags, firearm resistant security screens and special drug cabinets. Additional designs included a specialist range of three lever locks, a ten slider key mechanism for mortice locks and associated key cutting machinery.

1985 – Andrew designed and patented an electric mortice lock and associated specialised tooling and in 1992 he designed a bespoke lock to be installed at Portcullis House.

1999 – Andrew sold Taylor Lock Company and started Lock Services Limited. Lock Services Limited is approved by the Hampshire County Council ‘Buy with Confidence’ scheme and is an ‘Approved Company’ of the Master Locksmiths Association.

2005 – Still active and innovative after over 40 years in the business, Andrew launched his  latest design for an electric mortice lock which incorporates security to comply with BS 3621:2004 with access control .  This was a major step forward at the time.

Andrew is a well renowned expert in the field of safes, safe design, locksmithing and locks. His knowledge and expertise is sought from all round the world. He has also lectured on the security value of locks and other physical security devices to Insurance Companies and Crime Prevention Officers and has run Locksmithing courses for Armed Forces personnel.  Andrew has used this wealth of experience to good effect acting as an expert witness for cases involving locks and safes and the associated mechanisms.
